Keep Your Files Save with Online Backup Services and Software

Backing up your data is a smart and proactive thing to do. I've learned the hard way that it's to late after a crash happens and you lose all your critical data with no copies of it to be found anywhere.

Welcome to DontLoseYourData.com, I know you've not going to make the same mistakes that I've made in the past of not backing up information and files only to lose it from a virus or hard drive crash. How do I know that? Because you're here at this website looking for online backup reviews and backup software reviews.

The only thing holding you back from peace of mind is a service or program to backup your information and files.

Which Backup Software or Service is right for you?

There's a variety of alternatives to choose from. There are online backup services, backups programs that will store files on CD's, DVD's, or USB flash drives. Also online storage services that are basically a bunch of space you can store files and folders at.

Each one offers their own unique benefit, I suggest you browse through the online backup reviews below, and also the reviews of the top backup software programs as well to get a feel for the features of benefits of both options.

Most home users will likely find online backup to be the easiest alternative. How ever for large amounts of data or small business a program with some form of external media (i.e. Hard drive, DVD, tape drive) will probably better suit your needs.

Mozy Backup

Mozy

Mozy is our top rated online backup service providing online backup for both PC and MAC users.

Mozy's system work with a simple desktop application you download which connects you to the mozy backup servers.

They offer 2GB free account, how ever they're always running promotions for 10% off a 1 year contract so I always suggest people just go ahead a spend the $50-$60 bucks for a full year. It's well worth having the additional space, support, and know that you won't have to get more space later on.

Right now you can sign up to Mozy and recieve 10% off by using the coupon MARCH.

Visit the official Mozy Backup website here, or read our complete review of their service in our Mozy Backup review.

Carbonite backup

Carbonite

Carbonite is a close second to Mozy. What puts Mozy on top is their free account, Carbonite offers a 14 day Free trial (which is still great), how ever to stick with the service after the free trial you do need to whip the credit card out.

The price is still good it's around the $60 a year mark for unlimited backup space.

Their system works more or less the same way as Mozy. There's a desktop application you download to connect your machine with the Carbonite server.

One feature I like about Carbonite that Mozy isn't offering is that each file you have backed up with Carbonite has a small dot beside it. This lets you know that it's due to be backed up or has been.

To sign up for Carbonites Free 30 Day trial visit their official website now. Or you can learn more about the particulars of their service in our full Carbonite review.

Box.net

Box.net

Unlike Carbonite and Mozy Box.net is more of a big box you can toss stuff in online. Don't get me wrong depending on what type of person you are that might be A1. For me I like the ability to have my stuff backed up automatically and on demand.

With Box.net you are required to move files to your storage location. While it makes a great place to backup files, photos, and video to, you have to remember to transfer new stuff and updated files. Other online backup services that use a desktop application handle that part on their own, you just have to set them up right the first time.

Of course, Box.net does have some other great features, and their price is one of them. Visit the official Box.net website or read our detailed Box.net review to learn more.

BeInSync

BeINSync

A different bread all of it's own BeInSync is a backup and file sync program all built into one. I love this little program, and if I had to work on multiple machines (i.e. one at home and one at the office although I use a laptop) I would have a BeInSync account for sure.

Simply put BeInSync allows you to select files on two or more computers that you

1.)Want access to on both machines
2.)Want backed up in a 3rd part location where they're safe

Once you choose a file for backup or Sync with BeInSync their software then keeps a fresh copy backed up as well as on both computers you're using. It really is a smart service.
